Christopher Ross DeBoer — Landscape Operations Manager, Designer
Chris is a native of Sea Girt and attended Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina. He brings 13 years of experience to Barlow’s Gardenscape division. He is truly multi talented and specializes in unique and creative gardens features such as “bubbling boulders” and natural stone environments. Chris received his commercial pesticide licenses in ornamental plants, turf, and Interior plantscaping in 2010. Chris loves a challenge and his problem solving skills along with his intuitive design abilities have produced some of Barlow’s best and unique landscapes.
Kirsten Soriano — Department Manager, Designer
Kirsten graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College and has over 20 years experience in horticulture and landscape design. She received her commercial pesticide license in ornamental plants and interior plantscaping in 2010, though enjoys using her knowledge of insects and plant diseases to create environments that do not require the use of chemicals. Kirsten has received The Perennial Plant Association’s Landscape Design Award 3 years running, incorporating colors and textures through perennials into each of her landscapes. She enjoys creating gardens of all sizes but loves to make a big impact in smaller spaces. You may see Kirsten teaching a variety of gardening classes here at Barlow’s or for many local garden clubs.
Heather Machado — Nursery Manager
For 15 years, Heather is been directly responsible for providing Barlow’s customers with the highest quality plant material available. Her extensive plant knowledge and creative hands on experience is one of the reasons we have been voted Best Garden Center for over 9 years! Heather constantly researches and consults with industry professionals and stays on the cutting edge of current plant introductions. In the summer months she travels extensively to nurseries and growers to inspect and select the finest quality plant material. She enjoys discovering unique and unusual plants that are hardy to our area and will spark conversation her customers gardens.
Jim Heine — Garden Maintenance Foreman
Jim is a graduate from Mt. Saint Mary’s college. He has been maintaining gardens throughout monmouth and ocean counties for over ten years. He joined Barlow’s landscape staff 3 years ago and now can be found working in all aspects of the landscape department. His main responsibility is keeping our customers properties beautiful and lush throughout the planting seasons. Jim has attended many landscape courses at Rutgers University and excels in fine pruning flowering shrubs. Jim is best known in the landscape department for his effortless ability to motivate and inspire his crew, making for happy people and plants.
