Barlow's Children's Garden is the newest addition to our beautiful farm. Designed and created by our award winning Gardenscaping Division led by Kirsten Soriano and assisted by Chris DeBoer, we proudly opened the garden to our youngest visitors in April, 2009.
This is an interactive garden where children can learn and enjoy the touch, taste and smell of garden plants, play on Outlook Bridge, make wishes on the Magic Stool in our Papoose Tepee or enjoy the Bubbling Boulders. Our Vegetable and Herb Garden planted by our first garden visitors in the Spring at harvest time will benefit The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Brightly colored picnic benches are set up for children to rest, have a snack or enjoy coloring activites right next to our living Green Roof Hut where beautiful plants flourish and provide a hideaway for kids. Children will enjoy the Barlow's Bunnies - Thumper and Ellie who are always happy to see their friends. Our beautiful canaries will return to the Barlow Aviary this summer.
This Summer we host Story Telling Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. with a variety of talented story tellers each week through the end of August. Moms and Dads are welcome to enjoy some shopping time while the kids are entertained in our safe enclosed garden and supervised by Barlow's staff. A brief coloring activity, a private tour of our garden and refreshments make this an enjoyable visit.
Don't miss the Summer Time Kids programs each Thursday at 3:00 p.m.. Fun, educational workshops will entertain your children each week.
The Children's Garden is open to our visitors during our store hours, year round. Exciting events for children will be held each season so check back often for updates!
