Community Involvement

Barlow’s is proud to support many organizations in Monmouth & Ocean County. We donate thousands of plants and gift cards to non-profit organizations each year. Please join us in supporting these worthy causes.

To be considered for a donation, you must put your request in writing on your non-profit organization’s letterhead and bring it into our store. Please see our Design Services team, Attention: Barbara.

Foodbank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, New Jersey

The Foodbank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties

The Foodbank began in 1984 when three people saw hunger at the Jersey shore and decided to make a difference. They purchased a small, dilapidated warehouse in Spring Lake. Carpenters, masons and other members of the community donated work, office furniture and supplies. Food streamed in from hundreds of donors. After one year, the FoodBank was serving 25 charities with 100,000 pounds of food.

Bursting at the seams, the FoodBank undertook a capital campaign in 1998 to construct a new facility in Neptune. Three years later, the current 40,000 sq. ft facility became a reality.

Today, the FoodBank serves over 260 pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs with almost 7 million pounds of food distributed annually. With the help of roughly 1,000 volunteers each year, the FoodBank’s programs are truly a community effort, working to eliminate hunger by providing emergency food, skills training, outreach programs and advocacy for families in need.

As well as the hosting the “Humanitarian of the Year Cocktail Kick Off,” Barlow’s is a Thanksgiving drop off for non perishable food. For more information on the FoodBank, please visit http://www.foodbankmoc.org/

Spring Lake Community House & Theatre Company

For eighty-eight years the Community House has served the people of the Spring Lake area nobly. During the past thirty-four years especially, it has been the home of the highly acclaimed Spring Lake Theatre Company and a children’s Theatre Workshop and Dance Program. This is a very rare place that is constantly alive with the arts, children’s programs and civic groups, as well as the Spring Lake Public Library.

The Community House is a non-profit organization; a Charitable Trust completely separate from the Borough of Spring Lake.

Whether decorating for house tours or lending décor or plants to complete a set, Barlow’s holds this organization dear to their hearts and will continue to support them in whatever way that they can.
